Innie, Minnie, Mynnie MOE!....

hey guys... I have checked out the awesome figs., and my eyes were captured by my first choice listed. (Kim can you shed some light to the subject?) I might be adjusting my order box set... I want this and how many can I use in the army build. I saw some rules that only 1 per army? or is that for drago only?

choice1: Behemoth

this one is something I am comfortable with specially Drago (reminds me of someone in the other game I used to play.) awesome fig. too...

choice2: Berzerker (kharn re-lived in a warjack!) Drago...

now this is what you call standard: 1 range attack and 1 close combat weapon. (game wise I find it quite balance but the fig. lacks coolness to it.) it looks like an armadillo walking... too much armor and too less weapons.

choice3: Destroyer (balanced but my least choice)

so can anyone give me insight to these figs... which would you suggest game wise. because if for pogi points of how the fig looks., I like behemoth and drago among them. feel free to place some insights to the subject. thanks in advanced...

  1. I started liking Khadoran warjacks when I first got into the game. Then disliked them because it required some micromanagement of resources to make them effective - so I got to using infantry horde more to the point of not adding warjacks at all. But right now, the game has improved much and using warjacks (even the slow Khadoran heavies) are fun and effective.

I bought all warjacks and have played (or playtested) with all of them. Since you're just starting, the Destroyer is your best bet only because:

    - Using the Berserker is tricky
    - Drago is expensive moneywise (P3000 Php for one model, ouch)
    - The Behemoth is expensive moneywise and pointswise (P2750 for it, and it's the most expensive in points, almosy 200 points all by itself)
    - Lastly you'll find that the game is more centered on the warcasters instead of the warjacks, and in effect, getting the most out of your warjacks will depend heavily on the warcaster you pick

  2. KIm, thanks for the insight. and I do like the suggestion on starting out with the destroyers... but in any case that I do change my mind and go ahead with the behemoth... (P2750.00) that is already the box set for 3 warjacks? not a problem and would still also like to buy next time drago... so going back to the story that you did told me of the warcaster in a warjack.... it is kinda feasible right? the thing is that I find the behemoth interesting since I can do holds like throwing the opponent or locking opponents on close combat and can still fire a range attack (to a different opponent that is not nearby. and soon that when I do move up to the infantry heavies... I would always use a warjack that has the heavy firepower for support. which will still be the behemoth. the money is not the problem and I am in no hurry to make my army. do you have the behemoth set avail? i would love to order 1 if that is ok with you...(anyway if i do not use them anymore., they still look good for collection and display...I doubt i would regret these lumbering units) but if you don't have the behemoth avail. by that time, I might reconsider to settle with the destroyer and make some modifications on its looks.

  3. There's still a Behemoth available at Fortress. No one's in a hurry to get it so it's safe to assume that the one in the shop is yours already LOL

If you're really into the warjacks, I suggest get Karchev the Terrible as your warcaster. Very little tricks needed. Very direct, very in-your-face. I'll bring a 500-point Karchev list (with Behemoth) this Friday at Fortress (so drop by if you can so you can see him in action, hehe).

Another problem with the Behemoth is stability. All that metal is literally standing on his one foot on the ground. So a LOT of pinning is required. But if you're set on buying it, one more suggestion is that you play with it and as often as you can. Once you put that bad boy on the table, you'll hear a lot of "Good god! You're using a Behemoth?!?"

    LOL!

  5. The game basically is about rolling dice, adding the relevant score and see if the result beats the target number. The rolls are usually with 2d6. So if your model is trying to hit something with a melee attack, you roll 2d6 and add its MAT. If the result beats the target's DEF, then the attack succeeded. So it's usually a lot of that.

But then, your warcaster has something called FOCUS. The warcaster can spend a focus point to "boost" his rolls. It's basically adding a third die to that default 2d6 roll. So by doing that, it greatly increases the chance of hitting something or dealing more damage (yeah, damage rolls can be boosted, too). Plus, spending a focus point allows the model to buy extra attacks or heal itself (in the case of warcasters only). So in the game focus management is key.

The funky thing here is that you can assign focus to your warjacks (usually a maximum of 3 in a turn). Your warjacks can also get to boost their attack and/or damage rolls, or buy attacks. In addition, it can use focus to do power attacks like slamming or throwing or headbutting (these are extra stuff that all warjacks can do).

Karchev's spells and abilities complement the usage of a lot of the Khadoran warjacks; plus he has a funky thing that offsets the usual Khadoran slowness.
